Strategic Director
Daniel has more than a decade’s worth of experience in the student accommodation industry. He is one of the founders of The Purple House, having built the business from scratch for over 11 years.
As a Strategic Director, he oversees a portfolio of nearly 10,000 beds along with a 200-strong team. Under his leadership, The Purple House entered the Malaysian Book of Records as the largest accommodation and services provider in 2022 and Sunway House Student Residences was ranked the #1 student residence in Malaysia in 2018.
He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Australian-based Asia-Pacific Student Accommodation Association, representing members in the Asian region. He previously spent 9 years in the Finance industry, working in large corporate firms and investment banks in Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.
Facilities Management & Projects Director
Sri Velan heads the Facilities Management and Projects division and is also one of the founding members of The Purple House.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) degree from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia. He is also a fully qualified accountant under CPA Australia. He has a total of 8 years of experience as a financial auditor, working with both Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and Price WaterhouseCoopers in Malaysia and Australia.
He has also spent more than a decade managing accommodation properties during his tenure as the Director of Facilities Management. Today, Sri provides leadership in managing a collective portfolio of approximately 3 million square feet of property space under The Purple House.
Community & HR Director
Focusing on the resident community in all complexes under management, Sally is proactive with ideas on improving each complex’s resident living experience and services. Born and raised in China, then experiencing herself as an international student in New Zealand and Australia, as well as a lecturer in Accounting and Finance, has helped her to understand and look at the student accommodation industry from a different perspective.
In this portfolio, she and her team are exploring ways to translate the perfect balance of amazing spaces and nurturing communities where people support each other and enjoy time together with a like-minded community.
Sally is inspired to lead The Purple House’s entire human capital management function spectrum and culture building. She believed that the culture and people we were cultivating helped each employee become the best version of themselves, which is evident in the expansion of the business.
